Infrastructure

Karnali Province is the geographically remotest area among 7 provinces. Due to the social, economic, political exclusion, and geographical remoteness Karnali is lacking infrastructure development. There are less hospitals, health posts, schools, government and other offices. They are no industrial infrastructure situated in the region. Moreover, it is difficult to construct the infrastructures and other basis facilities because of geographical toughness. Karnali is surrounded by rivers. However, the hydropower is less developed and electricity facility is limited to few hours. There are no proper roads linked in the districts of Karnali. Humla districts of Karnali province is not connected to the any road connection yet. However, it is being constructed. That resulted in mobilization of transportation that is making people’s life very difficult. Recently, Humla district of Karnali has been connected with the national road network. Due to lack of schools and Universities. Youth are forced to migrate to receive the highest education degree. Older people do not get proper treatment. They have to travel to the city for the medical treatment. In emergency cases, sick people need to be rescued. Moreover, pregnant women are having more difficulties from all of the underdeveloped situation.

OUR MOVES
Representing a local organization, A National Government Organization cannot take a huge move. Nevertheless, it has a power to advocate and motivate the community. In some way, WWS had advocate and led to develop the infrastructures. WWS had constructed some basic and important infrastructures to support the community. It has mobilized the society and facilitated to build the school buildings, trail paths, hydropower buildings etc. Moreover, WWS had built the small infrastructures that is target to women and children. Piped water was distributed in the communities. To support women’s daily household chores with the aims to providing some basic comfort, WWS had built the water mills. In water mills, women can beat the rice, grind maize and, wheat with a use of water wheel or turbine. That is how women can save the time and energy. In traditional way, women used to use stone mill, where they have to sit and use a hand to process in details. School buildings were constructed to support to create a good environment to support the children’s education.
